Amazon Synopsis: Henry and Lucy are asked to stand up at a wedding! Together they discover meaning in the big celebration. This is a story about the celebration and values that come with love; it’s a small reminder that love is very important in our lives. This is a wedding book that walks you through the day and helps ring bearers and flower girls to understand their role in the big day.

My Review

“Celebrate” is a one of a kind book that celebrates love!  In the story, a couple are getting married and have asked a young boy and girl to stand up for them as a ring bearer and flower girl. The story highlights the importance of love in our lives and the significance of the rituals that go into the ceremony.

Told in sweet, lyrical rhythms, it’s a joyous, happy occasion that invite the readers to become a part of and join in the celebration.  But, a wedding is not just a big party and young readers will enjoy learning all the different aspects that go into a couple creating a life together.

The illustrations are striking – simple and elegant at the same time.  Kids will be attracted to the colors and the impression that the book appears to have been colored by a child.  They may even ask for a copy of the coloring book.  It’s an idea the author and illustrator might consider!

“Celebrate” brought back many memories of a time when my brother and I were ring bearer and flower girl at ages six and ten, respectively.  It indeed felt like a huge honor and a “job” of great importance.  We felt very special that day – I would venture to say we felt just as special as the bride and groom!

I highly recommend “Celebrate” for any child gifted with the honor of being in a wedding, but more importantly for all kids in general.  It’s a special event and a story that just might inspire dreams of their own wedding one day. Sweet book!

  1. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely review with Multicultural Children’s Book Day. It sounds perfect to read to kids who will be attending a wedding (even if they don’t get to be ring bearers or flower girls!).
